Aanstaande maandag, 21 december, zal de LAATSTE avond van 'Smaken Verschillen' plaatsvinden in het Hofman Café!
De muziek zal die avond verzorgd worden door Lynn, Corbelijn en Casper Broekaart.

Lynn

Diaries are generally meant to be hidden in closets, but some musings are worth sharing with the world. Take those of Jolinde van der Lugt – Lynn for short – who wraps them in enchanting songs that are extremely intimate, but hold a universal appeal. Lynns first EP from 2007 is simply called ‘She writes down her thoughts’, and that’s what she does, in informal but carefully chosen words. Her songs are warm and folky, with an indie feel.

The conditions in which Lynn composes are ideal for this kind of music: alone, behind a worn-out piano or guitar in her dorm room. There was a time Lynn would quickly stop playing whenever someone came in, afraid to share her stuff with the world, but luckily by now she’s gotten over her initial shyness.

After being raised in a musical family, Lynns career got going in 2004, when she was seventeen and started the band No Coincidence. A year later she won the talent show at school, solo. Since then, Lynn has been building up an impressive repertoire, assisted by former room-mate Benjamin van Teijlingen since 2007, who plays guitar and sings.

So now Lynn is officially a duo. Things have taken off since the debut EP came out – gigs across The Netherlands, in Germany and on national radio. In 2008 Lynn won first prize in a prestigious regional singer-songwriter festival. The jury described her music as: ‘It’s melancholy, fragile, credible, and it matters.’

Corbelijn

Late bloomer (the ~); a person whose talents or capabilities are slow to develop

Named after main Character Maarten Corbelijn from Willem van Toorn’s novel ‘Steam’ Corbelijn attempts to capture melancholy in their songs. A conscious choice was made for an emptyness in the songs. A lost mellotron, a single cello, a hidden piano, nowhere overdone, but always present is the soft weeping mood of melancholy

Late 2005 Ron Valeri founded Corbelijn. Together with Jean-Marie Tournier and Norbert de Jong he started to write and record small acoustic songs. Late 2006 one the demo songs ‘Becoming Time’ winds up at Frans Hagenaars (Excelsior Recordings). Hagenaars proposed to record an album with him at his Sound Enterprise studio. This proposal ultimately resulted in ten recorded Corbelijn-songs. After which Darius van Helfteren mastered the songs. By then it turned 2009.

Corbelijn once was a small and well hidden secret. Picked up by Dying Giraffe Recordings Corbelijn can be found and cherished by those who loves melancholic music from the heart.

Casper Broekaart

Casper Broekaart is 23-jarige Singer-songwriter wiens wortels liggen in de veluwe. Tegenwoordig woont hij al enige tijd in Utrecht.

Met een sterke stem en doeltreffend tokkel werk weet hij met eenvoudige middelen prachtige plaatjes te schetsen. De muziek valt nog het best te omschrijven als folk met randjes pop, blues en soul.
Zijn nummers liggen fijn in het gehoor en bevatten daarnaast verschillende lagen. Hierbij spelen tekst en emoties een belangrijke rol.

Na al de nodige podiumervaring op gedaan te hebben met het coverbandje The Flakes (covers van oa. Jack Johnson, Ben Harper en Damien Rice) is hij nu klaar om het publiek kennis te laten maken met zijn eigen nummers.
Onder het motto “no guts no glory” grijpt hij alle kansen aan om mensen met zijn muziek in aanraking te laten komen.

Op dit gebied timmert hij hard aan de weg.
Zo speelde hij al op het bevrijdingsfestival in zwolle (2007), heeft hij al in popzalen zoals de EKKO (Utrecht) gestaan en deed hij ondermeer voorprogramma's van bands als Swelter en folkhelden zoals Johnny Dickinson en Chris Smithers.
Ook heeft hij de singer songwriter contest van de HU op zijn naam geschreven (2008). Onlangs schopte hij het zelfs tot de studio van 3fm waar hij bij Rob Stenders voor 3voor12 live in de uitzending zijn kunsten ten gehoren mocht brengen.
